Take it from me, there are products out there that WILL without a doubt make your bottle feeding journey much easier.

The top 5 items would be:

  1. Baby Brezza Advanced Pro
  2. Dr Browns Bottles
  3. Dr. Browns bottle brushes
  4. Boon grass countertop drying rack
  5. A washing basin.

The biggest and most game changing item of them all would be the Baby Brezza Advanced Pro. Its basically a Keurig machine but for your babies formula. Instead of taking the time to measure out formula, mix in the bottle, and warm up the bottle all you have to do is place the bottle under the funnel, on the drip tray, and press the green button. BAM. Bottles done. AND the water is already warm so you get to skip that step altogether.

My husband and I both found this to be particularly useful during the middle of the night feeds where baby is crying and you are half asleep. It is also easy to clean and maintain which is another plus when you are already spending too much time washing bottle parts. To help with the maintenance we did purchase a second funnel since that needs to be changed out (it gets a bit gunky from the formula and water mixing) every 4 bottles.

Another function of the Brezza is that you can opt to just dispense water. We ended up using this function when we were on the go. We would place the bottle under the funnel, on the drip tray, and dispense the number of oz we want for on the go use. Lastly, we were happy that the Brezza is compatible with several different type of formula. We ended up using at least three different types and each time it worked well. There are setting you have to change depending on the brand however that information is easy to find.

Next, we loved using Dr. Browns bottles. Our daughter preferred the narrow neck bottles however they can be purchased in the wide neck sizing as well. We got the bottles in 4oz and 8oz sizes and used them from about week 1 at home to the present (over 10 months!). I found them to be affordable, easy to get on amazon when in a time crunch (and just overall too tired to leave the house with a newborn) and long lasting with the proper care!

Along with the bottles, you need a good brush. And we tried a few. Let me tell you, there was a clear winner in terms of functionality and those are the ones with a sponge along with bristles. Several brands have this feature and any of them will do. The ones we kept purchasing were the Dr. Browns which have a suction cup on the bottom to easily sit on your counter in-between cleans. There is an added feature of a narrow base that helps for cleaning smaller areas. Now I will say that there don’t last as long as a fully silicone brushes however we found the silicone just didn’t get into all the corners and clean as well.

The next product I initially thought was just an aesthetic thing but instead its actually quite handy! It is the boon grass countertop drying rack. We have two of them and they are seriously so convenient for drying bottles, pump parts, Tylenol syringes etc. When we travelled I didn’t bring them along, there’s already way too much to pack for babies, however trying to balance the bottles upside down and having the other round parts rolling around was very frustrating. All in all, the drying rack is worth the purchase. It keeps everything tidy, organized, and drying efficiently.

The LAST product isn’t any specific brand but the use of a large washing basin! We learned the hard way that if you leave the bottles with formula in them for any amount of time (other than washing immediately) the formula can dry up and be a lot harder to clean. We just didn’t have the capacity to wash every bottle immediately after every use so we found the best thing to do was the rinse the bottles after every use and leave them to soak in warm water and soap in a basin. At the end of the day we would wash everything that was in the basin and it was much easier to get everything super clean with no gunk buildup. Highly recommend using this method. It also helps keep any gross formula smells away since the bottles are rinsed and soaking after every use.

In summary, the 5 products (& links) we recommend for bottle feeding are:

  1. Baby Brezza Advanced Pro
  2. Dr. Browns Baby Bottles
  3. Sponge topped bottle cleaner
  4. Boon grass countertop drying rack
  5. Washing basin
